BERNAMA 8.24PM

Election Commission Secretary Datuk Kamaruzaman Mohd Noor said a total 7,131 voters or 67.8 percent had cast their votes when the polling centres closed at 5pm.

The voter turnout is lower than the 76.59 percent turnout during the 2004 general election. This may be due to the weak challenged posed, he told reporters here today.

He believed that the boycott by the opposition parties did not influence the voters.
